I've always wanted to be homesteadish.
Emphasis on the ISH. I only want the fun facade part.
Pet chickens and 2 goats. Same sex. No breeding allowed. And a couple beehives and a bat house.
I'd for sure plant a garden. Planting is wonderful, but I only like to weed when I feel like it so we need to be decently close to a store.
I'm not lazy but I've done my time. I've raised 5 kids and one grandchild. Now he's a sophomore at OSU and doesn't need me as much.
We are moving today. Moving from a super nice Hilliard, Ohio neighborhood (the Scioto River and a beautiful park are my backyard) to 2 acres in West Mansfield, Ohio.
Where I live is so beautiful and I have so many friends, but no chickens or goats or really anything but cats and dogs are allowed. And they'd better be pretty.
It's bittersweet. I will miss this but looking forward to what's coming.
I've kept a colony of Sea Monkeys thriving for over 10 years. If I can do that, I can do anything!
Oh yeah, my husband is coming too.

Welcome to BYC ! That's a long time to keep a colony of brine shrimp going . Good luck 🍀
It's one of those things for me. I can't even throw out plant clippings. I don't kill anything, even ugly bugs, if I don't have to.
I do, however, recognize my hypocrisy. I will pick out the best T-bone at Kroger but I won't go hunting. I won't kill any bugs but I want a bat house knowing that would be the result.
Just looking for my own rosey world.
I'm actually here to find out what breeds are the best pet hens. And to learn how to make them happy. And my newest grandson is 2 and is fascinated by them.
Thanks for listening.
I'm in a bad way saying goodbye to my friends on the most social, partying cul-de-sac in the world.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Good luck with the move, we recently made a move and it about destroyed me. :D :old

Orpingtons (Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps) make wonderful pets, very docile, friendly, love to sit on your lap, follow you around like puppies, great layers and are very healthy overall. Other breeds, Wyandottes, Plymouth Barred Rocks, Silkies, and Bantams.

Good luck on this new adventure and welcome aboard!

Hey! welcome to BYC! 🐓 thank you for your introduction, it's a pleasure to have you with us peeps :jumpy what an exciting adventure in your future! I agree with @TwoCrows, Orpingtons are a wonderful addition to a pet hen. I also love the Barred Rock, they can have great personality as well.
Good luck on your move! Looking forward to see what you get.
