DOCKING SHEEPS TAIL/NEED HELP

We docked 4 today among other procedures. The tails are measured and made sure they cover the rear oraifices. I pay the $10 extra for all of them to have a little local anesthesia. It makes me feel a little better that they can't feel the procedure. To show the lambs in 4H they have to be docked here.

Mulesing is where they strip the hide and wool from the rear end (butt) of merino lambs to help prevent fly strike. It is common practise in Australia but not so much here. In fact I find it rather barbaric and cruel. If you have so many sheep you can't tend them and keep them in good shape maybe you need to have less sheep is my thought.

WOW!! Sounds TERRIBLE!! Poor sheep. Thanks Miss P .

Here is an extract from an article I wrote concerning mulesing last year. With all due respect Miss Prissy I dont think you (and most non-Australians) fully understand why we do this procedure, why it is neccessary in Australia but not elsewhere. It is not because of a lack of proper care for the sheep. But I wont ramble on, everything is in the article.
