Documenting Day-to-Day Duckie Development

They are already so much bigger!!!
I KNOW. Y'all warned me, but heavens! I look at them in the morning, and by the evening, I can see a change.

But OHMYGAWD I love them so! They ooze personality! Like chickens, I'm wondering why I am only raising ducks now.

I love ducks... we used to rescue baby ducks and raise them till adults... then release them in the pond next to our home and they would always come back and hang out on our front porch 😄

Yep! I made sure the water was like a warm bath. I only let them swim for a few minutes. I've heard it helps jump start their oil gland development, but I haven't found any actual research to support this, no matter where I search.
Have you not searched on BYC? - It is some kind of common knowledge/experience here that exposing the ducklings to water accelerates their development even further. The preening gland develops faster and the feathers grow in a bit faster.

I can't imagine doing that experiment. How could you deny a duckling exposure to water? I was always a pushover when my ducklings would cheep cheep demanding their swim 😆.

If I could have proper space for ducks...I would want a Runner duck! :p
Having had many different breeds of ducks, they all have lovable personalities, be it the addition to treats in my White Layers who would do anything for food, over the screechy voices of my Black Swedish to the stubbornness of Misty, one of my mixed ducks who never runs inside the house on a straight line, they are all lovable!
Don't be fooled by @duluthralphie who tells you the opposite!
:lau

I had to convince the last ones to go into the new big tub full of water, but once the first is in… 25 days old, during the "axe-murderer" stage:
