Does a friendly chicken mean eggs are coming???

Awesome! You don't have to put her on layer especially if you're going to incorporate her into your flock and they're too young for layer feed. You can keep them all on starter/grower and just offer oyster shell (or crush up her own shells) to give her the extra calcium.

I will try that, but will crushing up the shells and feeding them back to her result in her eating her own eggs??

I crush the shells and feed them back and have never had an issue with egg eating. I make sure the pieces are small enough that they don't resemble an egg. I do have a pullet who just started laying and her first egg was soft shelled. It broke in the coop before I found it and they ate the egg but not the shell. Feeding the shells back works for me/my flock but I know others would advise against it. We all have different views on raising poultry and what works for some isn't for all but i think that's part of the fun.

Thank You, i'm going to try it and see how she does. It is so much fun to watch them, especially the babies! They have started spending days outside and nights inside and now whenever I walk over to them and start talking to them they come running over to the side of the coop and peep at me! They are all so cute though!:)

This is the one that just laid the egg (KC)

These were the four babies last week:)

Yes laying feed usually has all their needs met. Mine has oyster shell etc in it. I think mine is called laying pellets. I hope she sticks around and you get many more eggs!

Thank You!! They are all so pretty! The lady we bought them from said they were EE. We are really hoping that's what they are. From all the pictures I've seen of EE she looks like she may be one as well. Her egg had a pinkish tint to it, almost like a very very light coral color. :)
