I have had terrible hatch rates with 3 incubators full of eggs. I tries twice last year and once this year. Out of 3 dozen eggs this year, I got 7 live and 1 died mid hatch during the night. I have the incubator sitting on my bar in my kitchen which has a commercial gas stove with 6 burners. This morning, I have had a thought about my low hatch rate. Last year I brought in a pot of marigolds from the green house that I had started so they would be in bloom at Christmas. I sat them on the island in front of the stove. Within a week, all were dead. This popped into my head this am while cleaning my incubator. Is the gas stove killing my chicks? Does anyone have any feedback?

have you had your stove checked for leaks? I have no idea about it affecting chicks, but I worry for your health if it really is leaking! Be careful!

Our stove is a commercial unit and has constant pilots. I smell no gas when I come in from outside or being gone all day. I have another pot of marigolds in the greenhouse and I am going to bring them in today to test my theory. I think it has something to do with the stove and the fact that the chicks/plants are young and developing/growing fast.
