Yes, people still do. I take people at face value. Sadly, most are working with hidden agendas and the front they present hides the reality of what they are. Sad. I just wrote off a person that I have k nown for more than 40 years. 25 years ago, I spent an evening arguing with another friend about this person's true nature. She told me, "He was a sneaky little boy, and he's grown into a sneaky little man. One day you will realize this." Sadly, she was right!
I accidently brushed my hand against a hot 20 amp circuit the other day. I wasn't so much shocked as heavily buzzed, but it wasn't fun. Does that count?
In Live action TV shows, no. I'm Genre Savvy enough to guess anything and everything. IRL, I'm mainly cynical about it because what is crying or reacting negatively going to do? Anywhere else, I do react a little.
