Well, I heard they were trying to leagalize pot in Ca to pay their deficet. Now that sounds like a pretty good idea. And, Backbird I didn't take any offence to what you said, was just trying to figure it out.

I smoke and have noticed in the last week or so the cigarettes going out. I thought they had gotten damp or something. Didn't know there was a new kind of cigarettes out there.

It would be sold in dispensaries, like the medical marijuana already is, you'd need ID and there's a max amount in grams you could buy. The idea is the people alreaddy obtaining it illegially would be using the stores, and the state saves $ on not incarcarating pot users (we have a 3 strikes law and minimun sentices), getting caught with dust in a ziploc is the same as have several grams, and carries the same sentice. However right now it's all hypothetical, they've stopped arresting grannies using it during cancer treatments, but to be hoest, if you find the right doc, they'll help you find a reason to get the prescription.

Good luck with quitting. I know myself it is very hard. I smoked for many years, and never thought I would be able to quit. I was so addicted, that whenever I ran out of cigarettes it would make me crazy until I got more. One day almost nine years ago, I was like-that's it I quit! I never smoked again. I don't even miss it, which is something that I always thought was impossible. Now when I see how expensive it is, I am so glad I quit, I would never be able to afford it. Good luck, I hope you can do it!

I am not trying to start "the great debate" here, but I disagree with raising the prices of sugary drinks, cigs, and booze. And, I'm gonna tell you why. I worked in a school cafeteria for 16+ years. I saw a lot of wonderful kids pass through that line, and luckily was there long enough to see three K classes all through their high school years too . . .if there is ONE thing that most parents will NOT do, is give up their habits for the sake of their kids. I know, I know, most parents genuinely do care and make sure their kids are taken care of, I was one of those parents, but other than my dh smoking, that was our worse "vice money". Anyway, I saw little kids come to school with no gloves, hats and a crappy dirty coat, but mommy and daddy had their smokes and I am sure their drinks somewhere along the line. Not sterotyping, but its the truth where I live. . .people get their "link card" and then sell their food stamps for their vices . . .and the kids go hungry. We are a selfish nation, and this little generation of children are the ones who are going to pay. Like I said, I am not trying to start the great debate, I just know what I saw and believe it. Most people in the school systems would agree with me!!

Yes they go out if you do not take a drag off it for a while. It's a safety feature in the paper it self. To prevent fires. It works well for me at times, as I get busy crafting and forget I lit one.... opps!

On a side note.. I do not understand why they have not raised the taxes on alcohol here. I feel they raised the tax on smokes to recoup the loss they are Not getting form the people that have quite. The government wants the tax money, and once they start loosing revenue on something, they will tax something else higher.

Well, me still being one of the smokers.

Yes, the cigs are different. I find that they make you smoke more because it goes out so quickly, if you are not just smoking away. Also have you noticed a lot more little ashes come off and burn you? I also thought they tasted off from the other cigs.

I need to quit. I am going to use Chantix (sp) to wean myself. I'll take all the help I can get!
