Does any one use ivermectin in chickens ?

With Quill mites they strip the feather and just leave the shaft. She doesn't look like she has any mites of any kind. If this is at the base of the neck on the back, it is possible others are aggressive toward her and they are chasing and grabbing at her feathers and pulling them out.

Northern Fowl mites are one of the most common of mites and you will see what looks like black dirt at the bases of the feathers. These are eggs. Her feather shafts look clean. 

I think this is aggression from another bird. Take some goodies up for your birds and toss them around the run and watch carefully. If she is losing these feathers to aggression, you will definitely see it at treat time. 

She is at the bottom of the pecking order...poor thing. That I know for sure. I would just write it off as aggression, but she is constantly preening and itching at herself. I did order an apron for her online to see if that helps. She almost does summer salts while she itches. Poor girl. With the treats, she's pretty good about grabbing her treat and running for the hills, lol. I'm just not sure, poor girl.

Itchy skin can also be a fungal infection. You might put some probiotics in their water for a couple of weeks. Probiotics will help boost the immune system inside and out.

It won't kill her if you dose her with Ivermectin pour on. Is she a large breed? Go ahead and put 5 or 6 drops on the back of her neck. Towel her up and lay her on your lap. Pull away the feathers behind her neck and ONLY get this stuff on the skin. It is useless if it hits the feathers. See if this doesn't help.

She's an EE, but she's only 3.5lbs. She's a smaller girl. I will try it, anything to get her to stop itching herself.

The absolute most I would give her would be twice the recommended dose.
Recommended dose - 3.5 pounds / 2.2 x 0.5 / 5 = 0.16 ml
Twice that - 3.5 pounds / 2.2 x 1 / 5 = 0.32 ml

I have used this stuff in the past and is a very potent product not to be used lightly. It wouldn't make a good mite killer since you can't dip the entire bird in it. LOL

But it works well for spot treatments of skin bacteria, fungus or ringworms. It stinks to high heaven and you HAVE to use gloves when applying it as not only does it have a LOT of sulphur in it that you should really not be absorbing but your hands will smell so badly it will gag you.

Hi Leyla, how have you been? LOL Nustock smells like pine oil and sulfur since it contains those 2 ingredients plus mineral oil. I would probably use Nustock just for healing minor wounds or to stop feather picking. The taste is bad to chickens, but it has antifungal properties. For mites I would use other products such as Permethrin or the Ivomec pour on.

I used it once on a bird that I thought had some sort of skin fungus which turned out to be Quill mites. But she itched so badly she did eat and pick this stuff right off of her. This stuff forms a "skin" which over time peels and she peeled it right off of herself. LOL Either that or she enjoyed the taste of it...not sure.
