I had a cup with their FAVORITE thing (meal worms) then attached the clicker to the handle.
FIRST you have to train them that the click means TREAT!
it takes several sessions of about 15 to 20 mins of CLICK then TREAT over and over... do that for several days so it's completely imprinted in their tiny little minds.
Then bring out some small birghtly colored thing I used a pingpong ball on a stick. Present it to them and when they look or move tward it I CLICK and TREAT. The get the idea pretty quickly.
You have to be QUICK!!! when they do what you want IMMEDIATELY click and give them the treat...Too much time lag between the action and the click/treat and they forget why they got the treat.
after they are clicker trained you can teach them a sequence of actions. You have to teach the LAST thing first...Like ring a bell
Then teach peck a target then ring the bell.
Then move on to pull a string, peck the target, then ring the bell.
And it always helps if they are a little hungry before training=extra motivation.
