I thought I can share this homemadde feeder. It's made of recycled coffee container (3lbs.) and plant pot dish 10" attached together by a 12 gauge galvanized wire.
Here are some photos:

Looks similar to the one I made except that I used a 5 gallon bucket and drilled four large holes toward the bottom. Then I bolted a large plant saucer to the bucket through the bottom. This way I can keep the feed covered between fillings (bought the lid with the bucket at Home Depot) and a cone taped to the top keeps the gals from roosting on the top so the feed in the plant saucer stays clean. As they grew and I switched them to pellets, I just made the holes larger.

Thought I had one here in my uploads but can't find it. I'll go take a pic and upload it for you. Give me 15 mins...

OK. Here it is. It's not the prettiest feeder but it works great.

I had an upside down funnel on the top but DH borrowed it for another project so I improvised with bamboo sticks and a plastic bag.

That's great. How often do you have to fill it and do they waste much feed.

We fill it about every 5-7 days right now but I'm down to 9 hens currently. When the new chickies get old enough to join them we will have to fill it every three days. They wasted a lot of feed before we switched to pellets. Now it's not so bad. They are free ranging more now that some vegetation is coming in so they eat less feed. I really want to make a feeder that you can fill from the outside of the coop though. It would be like the feeders you use for rabbits but it would have a tube that goes through the wall to the outside with a larger funnel-type opening that can be closed to weather and freeloaders.
