Believe it or not, I have 3 roosters (still technically cockerels, I guess) that do not crow. One, my oldest, a light brahma, I got at the beginning of March, making him five months old. My other, a Buff Orpington, is perhaps two weeks younger than him. The third, I'm not surprised isn't crowing. If he is a roo, which I'm not even sure he is, he'd only be two and half months old. Anyway, my light brahma boy watches over the girls, mates (I saw it happen for the first time a week or so ago) and does other normal roostery things, but he does not crow. My Orpington boy is second in line, and I have yet to see him mate, although that may just be because Apple (the light brahma) doesn't let him. Either way, I've seen stories on here of chicks as young as 11 weeks old crowing, and my boys don't at all! We've never gotten even one crow. It's not a bad thing, and I'm sure the neighbors will be happy (although some of the neighbors have their own roosters). So, does anyone else have silent roosters? Or will mine start crowing up a storm soon, and I've just been lucky so far?

One or more of them will crow. I guarantee it.

And don't be fooled into thinking you have 1-2 silent roos if only one seems to do all of the crowing once they start. The loud one is just the alpha. If you gave any of the others their own flocks, they'd wail just as much.
