Does anyone else worry about their chickens as much as me?

I am a first time chicken owner. I feel like I worry about my chickens a little too much. (or at least thats what my family keeps telling me). I was even half way joking about getting a baby monitor and sticking it in there...

Am I alone on this or should I really just lighten up and trust that my babies will be okay?

If it's any consolation some do use baby monitors in their brooders and/or coops. I was so paranoid I kept mine in the house far longer than any of us - me, hubby, and the 22 chicks - could reasonably tolerate. At 5.5 weeks they were so doggone dusty and noisy that it was ridiculous! I had their moveout date circled on the calendar!

The first night they went out to live in the coop I put in a heat lamp and a wireless thermometer, and I checked on them frequently until I was so tired I couldn't see straight and finally collapsed into bed. The next morning they were raring to go - despite the cold and snow that crept in overnight.....I, however, was not! The second night I again had the heat lamp on, but like the night before when I checked on them they were all snuggled down in the corner, opposite where the heat lamp was! I only looked in on them the one time instead of repeatedly. The lamp came out that next day and they've been fine ever since. They will be 11 weeks old tomorrow, they are richly and heavily feathered and thriving despite me sometimes only having time to take care of their food and water and then not seeing them for the rest of the day.

My next brood of chicks will be outside in a special section of the coop within a few days, and I'll be using the straw cave with the heating pad method I saw on here. I won't worry as much, and they'll grow just fine without me hovering. I'll give you the piece of advice I got from Beekissed, a good friend and very knowledgeable. She said, "You're making it harder on yourself than it has to be." She was right. Once I relaxed I was once again enjoying them instead of being obsessed with them.

Im doing my best trying not to worry as much. Today I went out and still left them outside in their enclosed cage as well as leaving their coop door open. And guess what... THEY WERE OKAY! haha

Im just not going to worry as much but still keep a watchful eye ;) Its good to know im not alone!
