Sometimes when we have leftover cooked rice from a dinner I give it to my peas. They eat it up. I have given them all kinds of rice...White rice, brown rice, some kind of purple looking rice, etc. All of it I give to them in cooked form though. They don't get it very often.
I tried to give our gang leftover cooked brown rice and they looked at me like I was crazy.
But sometimes it just takes them a little while to get used to something new...
all the time, only cooked --- my guys get a lot of leftovers --- , they'll eat homemade rice in any form, restaurant leftovers also in any form, chinese take out rice -- they won't TOUCH the white( unless i mix it with something saucy), but go ballistic over pork fried rice....
mine also LOVE:
-- picking the meat that i miss off of spare ribs (and the extras if i'm in a generous mood)
-- cooked meats and boneless fish (if it's a tough meat, i'll cut it into bite size pieces)
-- cooked pasta in ANY form (seafood fra diablo being one of their favorites -- and yep, the whites get sauce-faced)
-- cakes, cookies, anything baked (they had a ball for two winters when i was on a baking frenzy)
-- pizza
-- cold cuts (not bad, but borderline where i debate on eating them myself)
-- corn (cooked or raw)
-- ornamental grasses (sometimes i plant one two in their pen from an overgrown area -- the don't last long)
-- pumpkins ( i break 'em open)
-- any vine that they can reach if it's growing up their pen
-- and i'm sure there's more that's just not popping into my head right now...
... really just about ANY leftovers ... i always try to pull as many of the obvious onions out ... NO chicken with bones... about the only things they don't seem to be fond of are peppers and broccoli ..... and while they love white bread, they won't touch whole wheat...
