Does anyone grease their waterer?

I'm about to. I have one of those 8gal galvanized things.
The rooster flies up, sits on top of it, crows, and poops in the water tray.

What a jerk!

No, never done that or heard of doing it. But I would be interested to hear how it works for you. Also you can hang the waterer to make it more difficult to sit on (if you didn't already). Or you can buy a large funnel cone to sit on top so they can't fly on top of it.

It happens. that or they scratch & throw bedding, dirt & poop all over into everything.
You just have to clean it out.

Waters should be about chest level, makes it easier for them to drink.
