Hi everyone. This spring I was itching to get more chicks so my husband and I stopped into a local saddle shop which displayed a sign BOGO free. When I walked in I saw chicks 2 weeks old that needed to be cleared out in time for the new shipment to come in. I was instantly attracted to the blue chicks which I was told Blue Cuckoo Marans. Then there was one lonely lighter blue chick all by itself. It was the last of a New variety, A Blue Star. I asked what the breeds were that made her and I was told a Barred Rock and an Australorp. I am not a breeder and I don't care where she came from, I just wanted to get her for a wait and see experience. My Marans are growing up beautiful and calm just like another Marans I have. The Star is the quirkiest personality I've ever had. She darts here and there, darts directly at the others to face off and screams bloody murder if I touch her. She also flys very high and far. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a bird mixed like her and are they similar in personality? TIA

Yes she does. Wow. Tell me about her. How old, personality.
Shes right at 20 weeks old. Quite flighty but also the first one to run up to me when I go into their run. Extremely curious and very brave to a certain distance lol. Very "darty" like yours! And heaven help if I touch her, you would think she was dying🙄🙄

You just described my Lily. She's tiny compared to my 2 Blue Marans but darts around to confront them and boss them around. And scream! I try to pick her up alot to get her used to me and the neighbors probably think I'm hurting her. I did notice a light colored earlobe. I'll have to look again. Maybe they meant to say half Barred Rock half a Andalusian. Sexlink of some sort. Interesting to see if she lays a white egg. Is yours mean to the other ladies?

Here’s some pictures of my old blue stars (sapphire gems- they are the same thing, right?) They we’re very friendly though, except the one in the first picture. She acted more like your girly.

Not sure if sapphire gems are the same. I'm thinking it's similar. I think they came from Meyers and they sell Andalusian. Maybe they tried something new?

Honestly my black stars are the boss of the flock. My andalusians stay in the background.
