We're anticipating a snowstorm (snow day) tomorrow and want to make ornaments like my mom and I made when I was little. I looked on line and there are 1000s of recipes for salt-dough, and bread-dough ornaments. I think the salt dougn is what we made.... but it can't be coarse, we need a very fine, smooth dough to make modeled figures, angels, etc.

Does anyone have a fool-proof recipe that they care to share?

Thanks!

Stacey & Olivia

1 cup Morton Salt
2 cups flour
1 cup water
Mix salt and flour. Add water a little at a time. Knead 7-10 minutes until dough is smooth and putty like. Roll dough about 1/4 in. thick, then use different shape cookie cutters. Poke hole at top for thread or ribbon. Bake on cookie sheet 325 till light brown. When cool, paint. When paint is dry, varnish.

I found a recipe for bread dough from Aleene's old craft show. If you want that, let me know. Have fun!
