Okay - I have a question for this thread...why do ducks POOP MORE THAN ANY ANIMAL ON THE PLANET?
I clean my duck house every day, picking up wet, poopy straw. Every morning it looks like they had a frat party in there overnight.
I've had one that didn't start sitting until she had 13 eggs.I have 3 pair of call ducks they have all laid eggs but the female dosent seem interested in sitting on them
My question is how long between laying and sitting on them
That sounds bad!. Shes dirty must be from not bathing and not being able to clean herselfI have a female 1yr old Pekin that falls forward and lands on her back when trying to get up. She can not walk. I’ve looked her over and I can’t see anything wrong with her. Legs look fine, her feet are fine (no Bumblefoot). Nothing feels warm to the touch. She is very dirty and don’t understand why. None of the other ducks look this dirty. Does anyone have any ideas? I hate to loose her she is my friendliest duck and will eat out of our hand and let us pet her.
She lays a egg everyday still. But every time I go out there she is on her back and can’t right herself. She eats and drinks like normal. I do tho have to bring her there. I will get pics this weekend. I was also thinking the same thing about bringing her in. Do you think she also needs some niacin? They get peas and lettuce as treats everyday. They get their duck crumble in their feeder. I didn’t think with their crumble that I would have to d niacin always like I did when they were little but I guess it wouldn’t hurt. When did she lay last? And good idea what Jpat said about bringing her inside let her have a nice warm bath (with supervision) something to sleep in where she can have some peace and quiet. Can you post some pics of her and her poop. Is she eating and drinking?
