We just bought some local eggs to hatch (fun project for my 4yo!) from a local woman.
The cross is:
White Leghorn Hen/Buff Orpington Roo. Has anyone tried this combo? How do they lay and what are their personalities like?

The other ones we got are Easter Egger Hen/Buff Orpington Roo. Anybody?

I am excited to see what they look like! :)

I have! My leghorn is barred, so that's why this big guy has barring. He was a sex link, so I knew he was a rooster from the start.

He's since filled out more and is very pretty. He has an excellent temperament.

As far as hens go, I don't have any from this cross, but I have a friend who does and they are a gorgeous soft buff color, good personality, pretty good egg layers, and they do go broody.

I've had some Buff Orpington rooster X White Leghorn chicks. The offspring were primarily white and they were in between both parent breeds in both temperament and laying ability; pretty calm and docile birds, probably closer to the Orpingtons than to the more high strung Leghorns; and excellent layers, not quite as good as the Leghorn hens, but better than the Orpington hens. Their eggs had a slight tint to them, sort of a cream or light beige color.
