I'm from a hot/humid climate. (Thailand) Do i really need a coup? What I'm using now is a coup without walls, I just have a roof to keep the chickens dry from rain and out of the heat. Does anyone have coup plans for a climate like mine?

I think the main thing you might want is some protection from predators. Perhaps you could make "walls" out of hardware cloth (welded wire with small openings).

Agree. Ours is mostly chicken wire and reinforced hardware cloth around the bottom and top. We used sheet metal panels for the roof, and placed the coop in the shade on the north side of our house. In the winter, I put blankets up around 3 sides to block wind/rain. Works great!
I'm writing from the deep southern coastal U.S. (Gulf of Mexico region)
Love Thai food. In fact, we have Thai Basil and Thai Peppers growing in our garden right now. I am sure you are a great cook!! Still learning my way around that part of my cooking adventures!! Know any good cook books that are easy enough but authentic that I could locate/purchase??

Thanks!

I'm using a wire right now with small openings to keep out the snakes. Seems to work great. I think snakes are my biggest worry but right now there is no way they can get through the wire at least the big snakes can't. Had a 2m long cobra by the chicken cage the other day. Scary.

First of all:welcome

I also live in a hot/humid climate -New Orleans. My coop is 4ft. off of the ground with wire (hardware cloth)on all sides and bottom. The roof is corrugated metal panels, I have passion flower vines that cover it so the metal does not get too hot in the sun.

My main concern is to keep out predators, no cobra's but raccoons.

Good luck with it all.

Do you get bad storms with blowing wind at certain times of the year? It can help to have a solid wall on one side, to block bad storms that blow from that direction. Maybe even have a foot or two of wall on the edge of the side walls that are attached to the solid wall, just to add a little more shelter from blowing storms. The rest of the walls can be sturdy wire for protection, while allowing lots of air flow.
