does anyone know about or heard about a Mohawk line of heratege RIR's

I am really having a hard time getting condition on these young roosters. I am probably not fussy enough about their feed regiman. Normally they eat 18% game bird but far too often I run out of that and they are eating the same thing as the hens. I do have a couple now that are beginning to show that they have plenty of keel bone to shape up. When the weather gets better I will post a couple of better pics of my better cockerals.

The fella in the piciture is probably six months old at that time he is about 10 months now and still looks far from finished to me

Cyn my pullets really dont seem like they are going to get all that big. I will see where they finish. Greg Chamness went on quite a tirade when I asked him about size LOL. I think his strain is a bit smaller than some and I think he feels that his size is closer to the standard. In any case I decided to just wait and see how large they get.

THAT is exactly what i am looking for!!!!! last fall i wanted to order RIR's from the hatchery but they just dont look the way that i would like them too. i love the heretage breeds i would like to stick with those. i like to keep the heretage around the way that it should be. my garden every year is 90% heirlooms as well. hopfuly this year it will be 100% heirloom varieties! my ultamate goal is to eventualy have a small heretage hobby farm.

Look up the RIR club home page,
And look up the members list and the RIR hall of fame.
Thats what I did.

I found plenty of info on my RIR's there.
I ended up getting some Great SQ RIR BANTAMS,
they ended up being out of Master breeder, Master exhibitor & hall of fame David Bell.
I found out that he put over 50 yrs of work into my now RIR's, and that they were from SQ Stock & winners even before he had them.
So the gene pool is outstanding.

It shouldn't take you too long to find out How valuable they coming from a breeder with a REP.
I will see what I can find out for you.

Don't take this the wrong way BUT,
It is only a "outstanding gene pool" if the knowledge of breeding is there. It only takes 1 or 2 years of bad breeding and not knowing what to look for to screw up a good line and your back to square one..
A person can go out and bye the best birds there are and put them in a breeding pen and never get a good bird one if he or she doesnt know what to look for in the breeding pair..

A more information on the Mohawk Line..
The Mohawk name comes from Mohawk V that Mrs Donaldson bought from Mr. Maurice Wallace from Canada in 1927 for $150.
