This is the first I'm hearing of this particular case, but it's ridiculous & without merit to fire someone for having a personal life. She says she had her security settings on "high" (which I take to mean "private"), so if that's the case, it sounds like one of her "friends" set her up...

Political correctness strikes again! The gal is 24. Last I checked, the legal drinking age in this country is 21.

I work for a school-system, and we have been formally warned to be careful of what we post on any public forum. They told us that they periodically check our FB, Twitter, whatever from the school computers. It's not illegal----that's why it's called a public forum. We were told that we are always representing our school-system, and any questionable behavior or postings that would reflect badly on the school system are subject to disciplinary action. Doesn't matter if we're on or off-duty. Makes me want to delete my FB page------what do they consider questionable behavior?

My thought are that she took precautions to keep those pictures under lock down, by setting her profile to high security, thusly private. I am betting someone she had friended got peeved with her and tattled. I agree that she is over 21 and allowed to enjoy alcohol. It isn't like those pictures are of her naked and sloshed with the school mascot. Sipping a Guinness is pretty darn mild compared to a lot of things.

We just had a staff meeting last week about Facebook. I'm very glad I don't have a Facebook page in any way,shape or form. Also found out that if any of our students are "friends" and the students' pages feature underage drinking, drugs, adult situations, etc... WE can be held accountable.​

Facebook is a scary thing. A lot of jobs ask for your user name and password now adays...police stations being one of them! When it comes time for me to start applying for jobs, I will most likely delete my facebook. I don't have anything incriminating on mine, but I would not want to take a chance. Also, if you delete your FB you can undo that at any time and everything will go back to the way it was. That's both scary and convenient because it means even if you delete your facebook, everything is still stored there.

I'm an alcohol and drug educator at my college so I don't EVER allow anyone to take pictures of me enjoying an alcoholic beverage. You never know what they will do with the picture!
