So, I have sort of fallen in love with the Yokohama chicken breed, and I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some information about them. Can they survive in a cold climate? Can I just keep one hen? Can they live with Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, and Australorps? How much does one cost? Are they hard to find? Sorry, I know these are a lot of questions. Thanks in advance!

I use to raise Red Shoulder Yokohamas some years ago. The tolerated the winter months just fine. I don't see any reason one hen couldn't be in a mixed flock. They don't seem to nearly as wild as some of the other game breeds. They can be hard to find, especially quality birds. I wouldn't be surprised if an mature hen would cost $20-$30. I've not kept up with current Yokohama prices lately. But when I had mine I sold juvenile trios for $100.
