Does anyone know how to get a permit to own a Canadian goose

We found an abandoned gosling when we was taking photos of geese and ducks at a pond near our house. We went there 2 days in a row to take pictures, and the first day we came we found a mama goose with 4 eggs, we took some photos of her and didn’t mess with her after that. The next day we saw her and her mate swimming with 3 babies and 1 was abandoned. We was there for 2 or 3 hours and watched from a distance. But she never came to get her abandoned gosling who was calling for his/her mom. So when we was gonna leave we didn’t want it to get eaten by something or die and general, so we went to take it and it didn’t cry or anything, it calmed down from it’s cries and started peeping. So we took it home and it was wobbly at first and then after it was able to walk pretty ok, I put it in with the 4 goslings that I got from ideal poultry (and where it is currently now). They get along well and the baby gosling does come to me and follows me. I thought it might have something wrong with it and that’s why the mom abandoned it but it seems to be pretty good. And I’d like to get a permit to keep it, since I raised a Canadian goose before and let it go, but I’d like to keep this one. He’s sweeter then my domestic geese, and likes sitting next to you or in your lap while you pet him. He’s just a sweet gosling that I’d like to keep if I can.

Maybe you can contact your local DNR for a permit to hold wild life in captivity? It'll have to be renewed yearly though.

People have kept geese for hundreds of years.

Its weird to me to think that we're at the point where its a thing where we have to beg the government to not step on us for doing things that our culture should be doing anyway, and that has a long history of doing.

I'm not against government though.

But I dislike that there's a huge loss of self sufficiency in western countries. Rather than a government point of view, I mean a view of 'practical, applied skills'. Things we should know how to do.

Because 2 legged predators often like to persecute one another, I'm thinking you might just play dumb with people and say you got another goose without telling them where it came from. I don't mean for you to lie, but just some people think its their job to cause trouble for people. Maybe its best when you describe it to just be like 'this is our other goose' instead of stating its breed specifically.

I don't like the idea that people who have no comprehension of something and no idea how it works get to decide if another person is allowed to grow their own food. And these same people have been cheating through life, and get to decide the future of the ones that don't cheat.

Agreed :)

I'm not telling you what to do, but in my experience applying for the permit after I already had a pair of wood ducks resulted in having them seized.
I did let them know I have it, I told the permit people that I was look to get a permit for a privet collection or as a pet, and I’m sorry for your loss of wood ducks
