Check for Plasma donation centers. You can get paid for donating plasma. (plasma is different from blood)
Or a Medical research facility. They pay quite well for different studies, either for medication, medical patches or topical medications. There are alot of college kids that earn extra money doing this. http://www.jalr.org/full/nd/pracs_institute_fargo.html
I used to work weekends delivering newspapers. I started off making $100.00 per weekend but ended up with a route that paid 235.00 per weekend. I only worked Sat and Sun mornings for about 3 hours each. This was in addition to my regular job.
Now the problem with that job was gas prices and wear and tear on vehicle. The advantage was that I didn't need a babysitter (kids were asleep with GM). It also paid weekly.
Maybe after you get back out of the negative you could pray for additional work. Let me tell you, the Lord always provides. Oh yea, the Lord is up at 3 am so we had many great mornings together.
We also live pay check to pay check.. I also have a free checking account.. I only write checks for my rent. I put my money for rent in the account.. And that is where it stays, until it is needed.. The bank I have gives you one free box of checks. THe rest you have to buy.. I use so few checks that in 3 years I still have some checks left.. I also have one bill I pay online. And I have one bill that is taken directly out of my account. I never write checks for any thing else. that way I rarely go in the minus.. Every once in awhile we do. If DH uses the bank card at the store for some thing. But that hasnt happened in awhile.. But I have learned to put $5 extra in, and not write it down. So at least there is some back up in there.. And try to forget about it..
When we had no money at all. And it was still a week till payday.. We went through the house and found stuff we didnt use any more. Like cloths that were to small.. Got rid of all our VHSs.. There was a few things we had to sell that we would have liked to keep. But you have to do what you have to do..

Yard sales don't do so well out here cause in order to reach our little town people have to drive in 5 miles off of the nearest highway. Only people close enough are two other really small towns, and the people there are hurting too. I've never seen a garage/yard sale out here, only in the bigger towns and cities. Cause if it would work out here, you bet I would find SOMETHING to sell.
I could bake foods, but I don't know of anyone that would buy them. And I think I just ran out of flour.
I applied online to a job for freelance writing where you paid per each piece of writing, and they were suppose to contact me within 24 hours, and here it is 2 days later and I've heard nothing back yet.
I have been listing my birds on craigslist, and my non working car, but I don't have too much else cause when we moved down here we left a lot of stuff behind. Most of what we still have is either broken, or we need it. Our initial intention was to leave stuff behind so we wouldn't be cluttered in this house. Now sometimes we think we don't have ENOUGH furniture and stuff. I have clothes in baskets because my mom and my older daughter don't have dressers yet. I plan to search yard sales later for those, they aren't a priority at the moment and we've all been surviving just fine with closets and baskets.
I am on a countdown til my next paycheck, but we won't make it 7 more days. I am going to call my minister's wife this evening cause we're all in the ladies aide society together, and hopefully the ladies aide can help us again. But she works a full time job, so she wouldn't be able to contact the other ladies on the list til tomorrow at the earliest. If I wait until church on Sunday I will be at risk of running out of gas, and no one would be able to help me til Monday, and by then it would be too late. But I plan to take the advice of the person that told me to start making things from scratch. My family will just have to deal with it.
I am going to work in a few minutes, so I can't even check to see if any of my birds sold til tonight. I pray something gives. My faith that God will see us through this has never waivered. I pray every day and will not stop praying. And it is definitely time to find extra work, or a completely new job. Once I get through this situation, I will definitely be looking!
If you have a non-working car (meaning its a junker and you dont plan on fixing it) - look in the paper or phone book - there are places that will pay you a few hundred dollars (scrap/salvage yards) to take your car and they will haul it away for you for free. Most pay around $100-$200 depending on the condition of the car.
Also - look around for aluminum cans and salvage those (as well as tin foil
) start saving them and then turn them in. My brother does this with his soda and beer cans and on average gets about $50.00 a month (along with asking his neighbors for theirs) by doing this. It takes patience and perserverance, but its worth the extra $50.00 for him - its his play money.
If you have things for a yard sale - then instead of doing a yard sale - take them to a consignment store or thrift store; explain your situation and ask them to purchase them outright vs. consign. Same goes for any and all used items in good condition that you may have (including jewlery).
Worst case scenario is the pawn shop. You can pawn your items (like your TV) for whatever they will give you for A LOAN - for 30 days or whatever your term is. They will hold that item (and a small fee is charged for the money they give you) for so many days - you can pick it back up once the $$ is repaid. If you dont pick it up and repay, then they keep the item.
There are tons of ways to get out of this in the short term, its the long term you need to fix as these are only temporary. Please make certain you enroll or at least check into public assistance if you havent done so - if you have a cell phone - get rid of it if you qualify for public assistance. They have services available to those that qualify for emergency purposes only (cell phones) at little to no cost to you (some are done on a sliding scale).
i'm loving all these suggestions, as my husband just took a great new low-paying job.
It's more stability than his previous job, at a place he worked before, with great people and benefits, but a lot less money. So i will need to be implementing a lot of these ideas very soon myself. Time to sort through my doll collection and get them up on ebay!
But what i wanted to say was, i think someone mentioned Angel Food Ministries. i had looked into it before, but there isn't one in our area. They provide boxes of food, good food, at about half the price it would cost in the grocery store. They even have allergen-free food. Some of you might want to check it out and see if there is one local to you:
I have to say I have been there done that (all of it just about) just recently got out of it.My husband got demoted because of cut backs and we lost $1000 a month and was expecting our 4th child the next month.
This is what I did:
Sold on Ebay (kids clothes, collectibles, whatever I could find)
worked two jobs so did hubby (I do daycare and sold tupperware also cleaned houses)ok I had three jobs
Borrowed money from family (that was my lowest point)
Got medicaid for the kids and W.I.C.
We got rid of whatever we could live without (cable, internet, phone whatever)
Had a garage sale
This is my advice to you and to all God helps those who helps them selves Don't sit and wait for a miracle because he gives each and everyone of us the knowledge to make it.You must have faith and believe in him and yourself. When things are going bad it's a lesson God is teaching you. It's a blessing you can't see at the moment.Trust me.
If that wouldn't have happened to my husband,he wouldn't have gotten the job he has now because it wouldn't have been offered to him the way things were before.YOU may be recieving a better job soon but would not take it if things weren't bad like they are now.I wish you and your family the best.Think positive
If you are in a large enough area, check out a goodwill hangar store, where they basically sell item in bulk. All the ones I've been to have regular "pickers" who resell items they buy there. These are different from regular goodwill stores in that the items are not cleaned, are unsorted and are far cheaper than retail goodwill. You buy things there and resell them online or in little shops.
The aluminum cans are a good idea too. There are about 33 cans/pound and the per pound price varies from about from about 25-50 cents. If you go to a local fishing area or kids hang out you can pick alot of cans in a short time.
