does anyone know what is legal and humane to do with raccoons in FL?

You could put the trap in a large trash bag and hook it up with a hose to car exhaust. Totally painless....or just seal the bag airtight and wait a little longer ....

As mentioned earlier on a 22 rifle or pistol with cb ammo would be my go to option for this situation, do yourself a favor and go to your local gun shop or sporting goods dealer and get yourself a pack. Out of a 22 rifle all you will hear is the click of the firing pin and out a pistol you usually hear a small snap. They have more power than a cheaper air rifle, will easily kill a coon with a head shot at close range and nobody will be the wiser.

And then please, please, please go take an adult firearms safety class! Learn how to properly handle a firearm, learn about knowing what's behind your target, learn how far a bullet from a .22 can travel if you miss, learn about ricochet... Learn as much as you can before ever firing a shot!

A 22cb shell and a normal 22 shell are not the same thing, a cb is little more than a 22 caliber pellet gun, slightly more powerful maybe, they won't travel near as far as a regular 22 shell.

http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/profiles/mammals/land/raccoon/ How hard is this to look up online? Not very hard. It is legal in Florida to trap and transport. Where did you get the idea it was not?....

opossum, coyote, beaver, skunk, nutria

Statewide

Year-round
by all legal rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, crossbows, bows and pistols (D)(F)

Hunting raccoons or opossums at night is allowed, but only .22-caliber rimfire firearms (other than .22-magnums) or single-shot .410-gauge shotguns (using shot not larger than size 6) may be used. Hunting raccoons or opossums by displaying or using lights from moving vehicles, vessels or animals is prohibited. It is illegal to transport wild-trapped live raccoons within, into or from the state, except by FWC permit or authorization.
Bag Limit: No limits on any species

Evidently the Florida department of Fish and Game has had a change of heart about trapping, then transporting, and finally releasing raccoons.

Excuse me. After reading the rules again it would seem that it is legal to transport and release deceased raccoons in the state of Florida, aka gator bait..
