Does Anyone Know What Kind Of Spider This Is? Is It Dangerous?

I do not like spiders! I run into them almost every night checking on the birds before I go to bed. Nothing better than running into one with your face. I literally had to strip down in the back yard when it went inside my shirt.

Mine are very friendly though, they will drop down on top of your head to say hello. I have several Wolf Spiders in my house, so I guess I better go read about them. Are they dangerous???? I know they are super fast.

Redhen, I need to put my depends on if I keep reading your post.

After a while she will. If she's eating well she may make more than 1. They will be obvious little balloons hanging from the structure where she spins the top of her web. Natural selection will make sure you aren't over-run with spiders. They will disperse or eat each other.

One thing to remember; if she's eating so well then she's eating a lot of bugs that would otherwise be pestering YOU. While the front porch isn't an ideal location, she's there because of the light. At our house we replaced our front porch bulbs with the fancy bulbs painted to look like stained glass, and put them on a motion sensor. There isn't as much light out there when they come on, but I NEVER walk through a spider web on the porch any more. I consider it a worthy trade-off!

That web is beautiful and amazing. Its so big, you didnt happen to lose your cat in the last couple days have you? lol

My horrible fear of spiders says kill it, i wouldnt be able to walk on my deck with that on it.

Hey there,
I'm from CT and have seen several of these spiders in my paddock. They seem to like it out there b/c all the bugs ie flys & skitters fly into it and she gets to eat. I leave them be as one less fly around makes me happy

Amazingly enough a search of the internet won't be easy to find this spider and some of the sites don't work.

I say if you don't want to research and dont' want to kill it, find a way to catch and release it to a more appropriate area.

Or you could find the "flight pattern" of flying insects and put an attracting light so they fly into its web and watch it catch and eat.

Unless it's bothering you to be there.

Oh Redhen you wouldn't last two seconds in my house. I have all types of spiders hanging around my house and not by choice. I take cobwebs down every week. As I was washing the dishes last night a cute little one dropped in to say "hi" and then scrurried back up its line.
I used to torture my daughter with a fake one. It was a huge bigger than your fist black spider with a 10ft hose on it to make it jump up. Oh the fun watching her run and scream. I guess that is why she throw a fake snake on me once on April fools day.
