Does anyone know what this is?

My step-sister said it’s been months. I’m so upset at her for not looking sooner. We took her and are keeping her.
It’ll be tough to take the string out but it is definitely possible to remove all of it. You’ll want to soak her feet, place her on your lap, and start cutting and unwinding the string. Tweezers will definitely help, and you may want to use a headlamp if the string is hard to see. You’ll want to remove all the dead tissue and debris from the wounds, too, but you can do that a day or two after removing the string. Salve or ointment will help her feet heal faster and will help get rid of all that debris and dead tissue stuck in those grooves in her feet.

Yeah I will. I’m thinking foul play from one of her kids unfortunately. It’s wrapped everywhere on both feet bad. My brain didn’t process the string in the pictures because I was looking for scabs or mites.
Oh my goodness!
The poor thing. I hope you are able to get all the line removed. Keep us posted on how she's getting along.

You're right, now that you pointed it out, I can see a small piece of line in one of the first photos you posted, but definitely see if now in the other!

Update photos! She’s officially string free. Took a couple hours but she was calm for most of it luckily. Don’t worry, I put some antibiotic on it and will be doing epsom salt baths for the next couple days as well.

You read my mind lol. Just finished getting the string out using tweezers. Put on antibiotic on and am going to get the debris out in the next day or two. Then gonna do some Epsom salt baths to make sure it’s all clean! Didn’t even see this until after I had finish 😂

Had my boyfriend hold her and keep her calm while doing it. She even closed her eyes and sat still until we got to the sore bits.

Great job! Don’t be alarmed if she loses those toes that are turning black; it looks like they’re too far gone to be saved, so they’ll eventually dry up and fall off. When the toes get dry like that they aren’t painful anymore.

A number of chickens lose toes to frostbite every year, and continue to live long healthy lives. Your chicken has enough toes remaining on each foot that she shouldn't have too much trouble walking. If she does, they make prosthetic feet for chickens, you might look into that. I don't think she needs one though. She should be just fine now. So glad you were able to save her and help her!!! I wish there were more people like you in the world. It would be a much nicer place.

Yeah I figured. The one on her left foot is already halfway falling off.
