Does anyone know why medium brahamas are slow to grow feathers?

I love them all, but at the moment only have the bantams--2 hens.

I did do a "chicken rodeo" or maybe "tackle football" number on a fairly large brahma cock who decided to cross the road last weekend. But I managed to catch him and return him to his fenced yard rather than letting him terrorize the horse show in the park.

If you have some of the same batch that are feathering slower than the other, in my opinion it would indicate they are males.

Slow feathering appears more often in the male.
