Does anyone NOT celebrate christmas?

It's funny the word NOT in all caps and those that celebrate it just keep popping in. I know there are threads talking about how they celebrate it. SMH push push.:idunno

If it was just me it would be a pretty regular day. When I was a kid, my family was REALLY big into the commercial aspect of Christmas. It was so draining; I still don't understand how some people seem to get energized by the crowded malls and stuff. Once I was out on my own it was basically just a break day. My husband really likes Christmas though and I think I unfortunately grinched it for him a few times with my attitude about it, so we eventually compromised and it became Die Hard movie night.

I don't celebrate Christmas, persay, I do enjoy the lights and festivities but it's an ancient, ancient holiday that the Catholic church shanghaid. I do celebrate the birth of Christ, which is actually in September.
I thought it was some time in January? At least I thought that’s what I heard a while ago but might be wrong hahah

I've heard several theories: March, June, or September, as well as somewhere between 6 and 4 BC, rather than year 0.

The September date is due to calculations by the Hebrew calendar, from times actually mentioned in the gospel.

I popped in just to say I celebrate being with family. We call it Christmas, but for us it's really not - because actually celebrating Christmas seems to have some strings attached lol.
That is exactly how we do it. Most of us have the day off and take full advantage of the ability to gather the majority of the family for dinner and company. We usually eat, catch up and play cards. The only gifts exchanged are at my house for my children.

I do not celebrate Christmas, or any other holiday. I'm not religious, and I actively dislike gifts. I strongly disapprove of excess piles of stuff and the pressure of purchasing things people might not want or ever use. If I want something I buy it for myself.

My partner and I do nothing special for Valentine's day because I expect to be treated special every day. Similarly we do nothing for birthdays. As an adult everyday is my day.

All that being said, I love it when people say, "Merry Christmas," to me. And I say it back with genuine joy.

I celebrate it because DH is Christian. I am not, but I go along with it for his sake.

Ironically, I end up doing the VAST majority of the holiday prep work, which really chaps my hide. In fact, I not only did all of the shopping and decorated the damn tree by myself this year, but I *just* finished wrapping everyone's presents. I rarely get any gifts, but that only bothers me because I'm freaking Santa Claus around here. Where's my milk and cookies, dammit?!

I hate this time of year, tbh. Not because of the holiday, but because of the extra work.

I did do something different this year that I enjoyed, though. I bought presents for every student at my school. I work at a school for teens who have survived trauma. We only have about 150 students, so it wasn't crazy expensive. I had them all fill out wish lists. I kept most things between $5 and $10 per kid. Some students told me that was the first Christmas present they ever got. So that was pretty cool. I may make that a tradition.
