Does anyone read post topics before adding a new one?

LOL I'm not trying to be a pain but I had to laugh.

I've seen this topic so many times on here.

Sorry...but I'm in a goofy mood today and it's better than I've been for a while, so had to post.

Don't be mad at me. Just saying. LOL

Love you guys and all your answers no matter how many times you've had to be of help.

Those of us who are new....we are just learning how to get around this site to start out with. None of us actually want to irritate you intentionally.

That said, I really enjoy reading the posts. I SKIP what I am not interested in reading but if I am looking for information on one special thing then I go to that section....had a bit of a learning curve on that one at first.

I appreciate all the input that I have received on ANYTHING that I have posted even when it was not what I wanted to hear....after all I am trying to learn.

But I will say I do skip the random section normally because it is seldom about chickens and that is what I want to know about.

I don't think any of us 'newbies' are out to tick off any of you 'oldies'.....we can learn so much from your input.

Most of the time I do a search. I just posted a thread after searching about it, actually. Did not find a specific answer to my question so I posted. I don't feel there is any harm in people posting stuff that has been asked a million times. I know when I first came to this forum it would not have occurred to me to search for what I am asking. Maybe the newbies think its the first time anyone has thought of their question.

It doesn't bother me either, and I'm not a newbie or an oldie! Yeah people should do a search but if they don't I really don't care and if it will help somebody out I'll answer the same question over and over.

Doesn't this topic come every week or so? Especially when the weather cools off and we're all inside and on BYC more often?

One of the cool things about BYC is that everyone, new or old, experienced or not, gets a voice.

Sorry if this insults you but it you're really interested in an answer to your question then the fastest way is to see what has solutions have already been given. If that doesn't satisfy you, then ask your question or get a clarification. To my way of thinking it is an egotistic thing whereby you're saying "I don't care what the answer is, my question is more important than the answer that was given." Understand, it isn't that I will not answer a question where I can help, it is just that, depending on how many times within the last day or two I see the same question, you may get a very curt answer or a link to the previous post.

I my self have been guilty of posting a thread without researching. I felt bad later after seeing my thread and an identical one circulating at the same time, however I am just glad that I did not have someone point it out to the entire forum and make me feel dumb for making an honest mistake.

I looked at an individual's past topics, all 43 started since early July. Quite a few could have been answered by research, but that member apparently likes to start threads and/or has too much free time. Like me! I work online, so I am here way too much.

Then I looked at several other records of past topics posted, including my own. Good thing I don't start many, because they are usually pretty silly. Some folks, the majority of them, were in the middle. A minority of them are repeats, considering the overall number of topics started. I agree some people would certainly benefit from actually reading before starting another thread. BUT.... that's why the veteran members can say "look here" and provide a link. The Learning Center, other threads, the FAQs.... which has a glossary of abbreviations, anongst other gems.

The main thing is that we remember that the moderators are the ones charged with regulating the forum, not us. Anything that smells fishy, looks wrong or offends you should be reported.

I really wasn't trying to insult anyone.

I haven't posted much since my husband passed away, until the past few days.

Last week I saw two posts just like this and then this one. I see similar posts all the time. Some, one right after the other. I always think "did you see the exact same question/"

I do open them at times and some have been posted at the some time, just get posted back to back.

When I first joined I had already read so many posts, but need more information than I had already found, so I posted a question. If I know an answer I don't mind answering it, but for the most part I leave it to those who have done so much more and actually have a solution. I do post on them if they haven't been answered just to bump them up for the help.

This is a great site. I fell in love with it for so long before actually joining. This place is like a family. I've been lucky enough to find help and have someone explain things simply to me do to a disability resulting from multiple strokes and a brain tumor. I love how helpful everyone is and how you don't have to wait for 3 months before someone actually visits the board.

My post above was just a way of seeing that I'm becoming a little more like me again and in my family if you don't pick on someone you don't like them, so please don't think I was being sarcastic or trying to cause trouble. Just wanted to lighten up the subject. Failed again I guess.

OK...You'd think I was funny if I had said it in person.
