Does anyone still have a landline?

Quote:
Before I switched to Sprint, I had to stick my head outside of the window to get reception in the wintertime!

we have a landline goes through our internt service...pretty cheap too! 24.95 a month free long distance all day everyday....

When ya live in the boondocks your landline often malfunctions... the hopes of a celly working are even more grim.

We have both, but the cell only works when we drive the 40 minutes to walmart.

I have a land line - still req'd for the DSL. The only people who call on it are people who know us really well, or telemarketers. I have a cheap phone no caller ID, but Telemarketers are fun to mess with.
- Answer the phone all cheerful and professional: "Hello, (your last name)'s, how may I direct your call?"
- Answer the phone in a foreign language - I use German! "Guten morgen, kann ich sie helfen?" snicker, snicker.

The only place in the Atlanta area I don't get cell reception is in my house. It'll ring and I run out the front door; good days I can stay on the porch but most I have to run to the end of the driveway. And that doesn't even work all the time. Can't call 911 even if I do get bars in our neighborhood, learned hard way...(stray horse tangled in old barbed wire fence, but I handled it myself since nobody was gonna help).

I would love to ditch the land line, but ours is tied into our alarm and fire system. I can replace stuff... but my kids... I feel better having the system in place.

DH says we are giving up our cells when he retires and that's fine by me. We may then get a pre-paid for traveling, but that's about it.

We also have a magic jack for long distance. $19.95 a year.
We chose the area code where the family is so they don't have to pay long distance to call us.

I live in the sticks a mere 1 mile from town and don't get any cell service inside the house. Sometimes I can get one bar outdoors.

PS: I really want a 2 sim/2 line cell phone to be available in the US!

We don't have a land line. All 3 of us have cell phones and our Internet is with our cell carrier. It is wireless and works everywhere we go, even camping! At our family reunion this summer everybody else had to go to the office to use their computers, we got to stay in our camper!!
