I just ditched my land line this month in favor of a cell phone. The cost of a cell phone is much less(I use tracfone). At least for the amount of talking I do. As an added bonus I took the money saved from the phone bill and called the cable company to add more channels to the TV.

I dropped my landline quite a while back because it went out everytime it rained hard or the ground got too dry, which is most of the time where I'm at. I also commuted a lot each day and needed the cell in case of emergency on the road. It was too expensive to keep both, especially since I had to pay for a Metro option for the landline.

Don't have a cell phone, and I am lucky to have a land line!!
DH hates phones...and he gets so upset every month when the bill comes...especially now that I have DSL through the phone company!!
He told me if I wanted it, to go ahead and get it. I thought he was being so sweet, I didn't think about his reaction to a higher monthly bill. We have gotten 2 bills now, and all of the extra charges should be paid now, so I hope the next bill will be about $75.00 to $80.00 for unlimited LD and the DSL.
Our bill before I added this was about $48.00, so he is NOT a happy camper!

I don't think I will push the cell phone issue!

I actually think our landline is on it's way out now..

Phone bill came, $1000!!!

Of course that includes cells, but really... we live off the cellphones.

We do the cell phone thing. We live on the outskirts of nowhere, but have great cell coverage.
The state police where out by my house a few days ago for a traffic accident and they couldn't get coverage on their radios!!! That made me appreciate my cell carrier even more. (The traffic accident was a drunk driver hit the light/phone pole.) I would have been mad if I stiil had a land line and this drunk took it out.

Also, no high speed internet connection but awful old dial up......the pits.......

I do but only for my internet. They wanna charge me for outgoing calls so I didnt even hook up a phone.

We got rid of the land line 2 yrs ago and just put it back last month. The reasons: needed fax capability and my DH works from home for a Canadian company. A conference call to Canada is costly and he uses too much of the minutes for work.
