Does anyone use a solid bottom feeder? (link within)

I'm curious if anyone uses this type of feeder for their chickens and whether or not you like it.

Haven't used one but have been looking for one. All I can find around me is the ones that have a screen on the bottom and I don't think that would work very well for oyster shell or grit. It would all fall through. Thanks for putting the link on here

These feeders will contribute to flicking out of feeds....they don't work well for chickens nor rabbits without some chicken wire stretched over the opening to prevent flicking or shovelling of the feed.

I use something similar in the coop to give the girls something to eat in the mornings before I can get outside to let them out of the coop. It's a wood bird feeder with a flip lid and a flat back that screws to the inside of the back coop door. I got it at TSC on sale and I think it's designed to be mounted to the side of a house or to a tree. It holds about 2 quarts of feed which empties into a little tray. My husband built an extra diagonal lid to keep the girls from roosting on top of the feeder and pooping in the tray.
Unfortunately, they DO get a lot of the feed into the bedding of the coop as they peck it out of the feeder. But when I clean out the straw every week, the chickens run to eat the dropped food out of the straw when it lands in the pile in their yard, so there's really little waste.
