Does anyone use "low houses"?

I really like the low houses in the Robert Plamondon article here:

Has anyone used something like them? I would make them lighter though. I just wonder if the hot wires really keep predators at bay at night- it has no cover on the front! That is my main concern; I like to free range if possible, don't have too many problems during the day.

Just make the front woven/welded wire, and add a door that closes. Close the door at night. As long as you don't have day time predator issues, you would be all set.
