Does anyone's Easter Egger chick have this? Also, WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH MY BROODER BULB????

Just thinking, is it possible it's an araucana?
Not likely. But (to the original poster, if you ) want to post sharp clear pictures of her comb, we might be able to see if she’s inherited one or two copies of the pea comb gene. In my chickens, the pea comb gene is often inherited along with the blue egg gene. But there’s no guarantees :gig

The only bulb I can find on mypetchicken is a 250w bulb. Yes they are hot. Even with a 250w heat lamp, there is no way you can hang that bulb that high and have 95 degrees on the floor. Something is wrong somewhere.

What is the ambient temp in your room?
Got a pic of your setup?

Possible she’s inherited extra full feathering on her neck, along with the muffs and beard. Many of my EEs have that, and the roosters look like they have lions’ manes when they raise their hackles.
I thought of that, but "fluff" is there all of the time. None of the others have it and they are all siblings. I wonder if they will stay even when she is older? That would be so cute.

Temp in my room is 72

I'm having the same heat bulb issue. I have a 250w bulb though. All the local feed stores had the same bulb, so I went with it.

Thanks for posting, I'm happy to know I'm not the only one dealing with my lamp already max height!

Heat lamps and red bulbs were designed to be used out in the cold barn back in the day.

Now that a lot of folks brood in the house, those hot red bulbs are too much heat in a warm environment.

Try using a regular 100w light bulb.
Not LED.

I also use a plug-in dimmer with my 250 watt heat-lamp.
I use this one.

I have two, got one at Wal-Mart and the second at Amazon.

I've never had an EE would like to get some in the future to add more color to the egg basket.
