Does Classical Music Increase Size of Meat Birds?

I am a skeptic, too, but I have to say that I think that there may be some truth to this as well. I live in a suburban environment where my chickens get to free range throughout my yard which is mostly all garden. However, whenever a plane or helicopter goes over, all of the chickens freak and run for cover. They are stressed somewhat by unusual loud noises at least. Then, on the other hand, they have gotten used to me running my table saw, air compressor, miter saw, hammers, and nail guns in their coop when they are in there without much complaint.

Nonetheless, it has been repeatedly proven that stress stunts human growth and rehabilitation. It shortens lifespans and invokes health issues. Listening to and even singing along with moderate relaxing music has been repeatedly proven to be good for human health. It releases seratonin and other helpful chemicals and natural hormones into the bloodstream which, in turn, calms us and helps us in our healing processes. Therefore, if it has been undeniably proven to be so helpful to humans, why should it be so hard to believe that it could in some manner or measure help poultry in a similar manner?

LOL... I don't know if I could handle it if I walked out and caught my juvenile roosters mounting other roos... I wouldn't know whether to laugh hysterically, or cry, or just go run for the ax!

i remember back in the day when i was in ffa and i showed broilers for the county fair i would play music for my birds so as to accustom them to being in a loud environment without being spooked (ie a show arena). i kept a red light in thier pen so that they could eat at all times yet still sleep and i placed 3rd 9th 5th 13th (all premium sale birds top 15)and 23rd(freezer sale i had a bad year). now mind you wed have 90-100 kids participating in the show for the broiler division. these were cornish x rocks like most birds but i could get them to 5.5-6 lbs easy in the 8 week period. one way of cheating is to include gluten in their food or corn meal or both. if you mix the cornmeal in the food be sure to use a table spoon or 2 of corn oil stirred in as well. only keep it out an hour or 2 but discard what they dont eat dont let it set there. biggest i ever got a cornish rock was 10 pounds but i butchered it because it got too big for its body. im currently growing about 7 of them and they are about 6 pounds now. im giving them asprin because i want these guys to grow to full size(the ideal book says16lbs for males, we will see

Ours listens to Country and Western, while in the pens . At about 8 weeks they ranged from 8 to 7 pounds dress out. last year it took about 10 to 12 weeks to get them that big.

But I wold not really say it was the music.
