I read some where that giving fruit to your girls slows egg production, just wondering since I was getting 8 eggs a day from my girls for 2 weeks, then I started giving fruit to them each day, blueberries, cherries, Cantelope, tomatoes and peaches. I'm now down to 3/4 eggs a day for 3 days now.
It's this true that fruit slows egg production?

Also why can roosters have layer pellets to eat, but yet pullets not laying yet can not eat layer feed?

I personally don't find it to be true. I give fruit all the time with no effect on laying. Also roosters really shouldn't be given layer pellets. Their bodies don't need the extra calcium and it can harm their kidneys.

You don't say what breed you have, but it may just be a lull in their cycle.

Large breeds, buff, RIR, light brahama, astrolorps. And I see all over the place here peopple saying roosters are fine eating the layer foods. I will go look further. I'm thinking there is something to this, my girls lay awesome when they have veggies but slow stall when to many fruits are given. No fruits for the week, just to see if there is anything to this

My girls have been given fruits since they were babies and once they started laying I didn't alter their diet. I have 5 laying hens: 2 Light Brahmas, 2 Black Australorp and 1 bantam EE. The bantam lays at least every other day - typical for bantams and I get at least 5 per week from the other 4 - at least - sometimes more.
