does he have to be registered with the vet?

Not sure where you are located at but head to the local TSC or livestock supply store and pick up a broad spectrum dewormer for canines. Something that does tape, round, and hook. That should take care of the majority of any canid worms.

Invest a little in the pup (I consider any dog under 2 years of age a pup and if it is a small dog, it stays "pup" all it's life). Get it to a vet for a general checkup. Some vets, especially those with a large animal practice, will include the yearly vaccine booster shots into the yearly physical, saving you a little money. Regardless of what state or municipality you live in, get it a rabies shot as well. Some states may accept the vaccine that you can buy and inject yourself as suitable but others may require having a vet or other animal care professional give the shot. Once you get the initial visit taken care of, some vets will even do a shot clinic type setup where you just bring the animal in once a year, they run it around the counter, zap it in the rump with the vaccine, listen to the heart, and out the door you go with only the state mandated recording fee for the rabies shot as the fee. Mine get their checkup every March and it takes about 15 minutes tops complete with the rabies shot and a renewal on the heartworm preventatives. Since all I have to pay for is the shot, it's cheaper than my co-pay when I do my yearly checkup.

He's from the UK so they don't have rabies there. Pop into a vet office & ask them is my suggestion.

If the OP is from the UK Rabies is not even an issue. Also how the vet system works is completely different than the US along with whats over the counter V/S prescription being different.

Ah, thanks Danischi. There's no hint of where the OP is located, so forgive the U.S. related information. Ah, it would be wonderful to not have to worry about rabies. In my area, one always has to worry, especially with wild mammals. It's beyond folly not to keep our dogs and cats vaccinated against the disease.

i know nothing at all about my dogs past i dont even no if hes a had an injection to go out side, my uncle baught him and his brother for 100 pound he give his brother to my other uncle then he kept my dog then he had to go to work some were else so asked if i wanted him i said yes and hes never told me anything about him

The reason i think my dog has worms is because he has like a normal poo then after that he had diareah

constant medication for worms that he doesn't have can also cause diarrhea. So can diet. Or stress. Or a million other things. There are also other disorders (like EPI) that can have diarrhea. You've had him for several months, and he's had diarrhea for all that time and he's never been to the vet????

Please take him to a vet and let them do a work up on him.

I'd definitely have him checked, at least as a base-line assessment. If it is not worms, it could be a dietary issue, that is causing his loose stool. My dog decided at seven years of age to become a major diabetic. I'm not saying that this is the case for your pup, just that other issues may develop over time, even if you've taken all the normal maintenance precautions. And do ask your uncle if he took care of the initial puppy visit before he gave the dog to you. The normal life span of a large dog is from 8-12 years, longer for smaller dogs. Anything you put into him now will be an investment in his future, and yours too. Be well...

no! not all that time just a month hes had it so i changed his food and it went back to normal then recentley started with diareah again i usually wormed him with bob martin dewormer

There are things like giardia and coccidia that can cause diarrhea that you can't deworm for with an over the counter dewormer. Please do your dog a favor and take him to the vet.
