When you have a party, do you tend to have loud music? If so, how do people hear each other talk? If we have a party here, it tends to be pretty low-key. Any music is loud enough for us to hear, but that's about it. A house down the street from us (about five houses away), is having a party tonight. It's not even in full swing yet but I can sit in my living room with all windows and door shut and still be able to hear their music. I just don't get that. How does anyone actually at the party location hear anything?

If you are good and drunk, you don't care what is playing or if you have to yell to talk to them. In fact, when you are properly drunk - the louder the music = the better! So yes, it does have to be SO loud if you are promoting alcohol consumption.

Obviously, the sober people don't appreciate it though.

I have no idea, but we have neighbors that we can't see but can hear and they blast there music almost every Saturday and Sunday. I would love to complain but then we don't complain about my roosters, ducks or goats so I just keep my mouth shut.

WHAT??? I can't hear you because I'm blasting Green Day. Having a one-woman party with a bit 'o vodka in my diet pepsi.

Heh, I prefer Crown in DrPepper, but ya know, whatever floats your boat! I will join you in your party!

Great Tala! Actually, I hardly ever drink so it's all I had in the house...I got it for my MIL for Thanksgiving...

I go to quite a few business networking events and am amazed that they often have music blaring TOTALLY loud... I mean, come on, it is a NETWORKING event... WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE!!!

One of them even left the music going when they had the event sponsor talking. Not only was the music still loud, but the mic system was terrible. Imagine a male version of the Charlie Brown "Wah wah waaah wa wahhh" but too quiet with music in the foreground. Crazy!

I live by 3 canoe liveries/campgrounds so holiday weekends in the summer tend to get pretty loud. But ... we only have to put up with a few weekends a year.

When I used to live out on the shore of Lake Huron with my Polish grandfather, the yahoos next door were busy partying late one night. Grandpa went out to the garage with a tape of his, put the tape in the cassette player and cranked it as loud as he could. It was polka.

The neighbor's heavy metal was drowned out by "Who Stole the Kiszka?"
