My chickens started their first big molt in August. One of them started pecking me alot and still does. I don't know why molting caused her to get so mean. She was my tamest one before. Any suggestions?

Because they get uncomfortable with all those prickles...

That happened to me, too. One of my sweetest chickens, Scarlett started molting and she acts like she's afraid of me. If I try to go near her or touch her, she puffs up and charges at me and tries to peck.....and she really looks ticked off. This is a chicken who would rest her head on my shoulder before going up to roost at night. Do they get better after the molt is finished? Please say yes!
