Does molting keep hens from laying?

Molting to me means the birds are on strike for about 3-5 weeks! Just got to let mother nature do her thing!

If you aren't planning to let your Satan hen hatch any chicks, you really should break her of her broodiness. It's not healthy for her to sit forever.

you really should stop the broodiness. She won't be getting the right nutrition or exercise while she's broody. Google how to break up a broody, lots of pointers out there.

Either Calf-manna or cat food is good for boosting protein. Feathers will have to grow back before the bird's body system will allow eggs to form.

I am going through this same thing. Gonna try the cat food and yogurt trick. Silly question... dry food or wet food?

i got a question about molting. My 6 big girl's are still laying. They haven't molted yet. Winter isn't till December 21st i think. So i was wondering when there next molt would be. Not that i am in a hurry for them to stop laying. I was just curious.

thank you,
Amy
