Does squatting mean eggs?

One of my older pullets just started squatting, does this mean she will lay eggs soon? We don't know exactly how old she is but I would guess about 4.5 months, she is also a sex link

That would be a good bet! Start looking for her to slip away from the flock or to leave you a present in the coop.

Squatting is submission for mating. With this maturity comes eggs - usually within a couple weeks of squatting.

My buff silkie started squatting for me and laid her first egg a week later. My black silkie has been squatting for close to two weeks now, and no eggs yet.

I do like watching the squat, though. I reach down and give their backs a good pat and tell them what good girls they are.
