Does Swiss Chard contains oxalic acid which binds calcium?

Spinach and Swiss chard are related, and both contain oxalic acid, and it blocks the uptake of calcium--so I've read in nutrition books. Beet greens are probably high in oxalic acid too, as they are related to spinach and chard.

Chard contains oxalic acid, but my vegetarian health-nut wife tells me that it also contains calcium ... one of the nutrition sites she frequents claims that there's a net gain of calcium, as long as you chew it well ... referring to humans, of course.

... don't have a link for you, sorry.

We give insect-damaged chard and spinach from the garden to our chickens without seeing any ill effects, though we don't feed them large quantities of either ...

Thanks guys! My chickens used to love the chard when they were younger, but don't seem so keen on it now, and I was wondering why. They seem little interested in their greens lately, but still enjoy their other treats (in small quantities).
