Operative word is Leghorn. That is one breed where it seems to work well. You can often tell pullets by a few days. I chose hatchery RIR correctly using it too.
Marans not so often, but by a month or so you can tell those by hackles and combs. Orps... oh those orps. Orpingtons you need experience and BOTH sexes of the same age to compare.
EE's can sometimes be sexed by feather color/pattern ( not fluff), but they are such a mix of combs that it's hard most times!
