Hi, does anybody in Texas have Faverolles? Do they do well in the summer heat? We have about 6 months of 90+ degree weather. I am really considering getting them, but want to know if they will do okay in the heat... I will provide water for them to stand in and lots of shade. Please only reply if you’ve had them before. I have done a lot of research on this breed...

I belive Favrolles are built for winners. They do okay in the heat, but not great. They will survive it, but not a great breed to pick for hot summers.
Orpington do well in the heat, same with most common breeds, Barred rock, EE, Welsummer, etc.
Yeah, they are made for winters but I’ve seen breeders in Texas so thought I’d get a second opinion. I’m really not that interested in those breeds. 😊

I have had breeds that have muffs and beards like Ameraucanas and they seem to do pretty good in my area. I also have Marans and they have feathered feet. The good thing about Faverolles is that they have a single comb which are good for places that are hot.

They’ll be ok, but they are not especially heat hardy. With proper precautions, it will be fine

Good luck with your birds!! I have two Salmon Faverolles. Both of their beards have mostly been plucked out, but they survived a Wisconsin summer last year, and so far have survived the winter! Praise the Lord! Dottie did go broody last year. Dottie and Dorothy turn a year old next month. How many Faverolles are you planning on getting?
