Does this chick need help?

This little bantam has been rocking in the shell since last night, and I noticed a pip on the underside before bed. Looked like it was starting to zip this afternoon, but it's just staying like this, foot sticking out the center. Foot moves once in awhile. Can it hatch like this? Should I help? I hesitate because it won't be a full 21 days for approx 24 more hours, so it is early, but there are 3 fully hatched chicks anyway. But I don't want to wait too long if it's in trouble.

For more fun, another chick has a pip + slightest beginning of a zip at the pointy end... so that one could possibly need help too. Nice... lol.

I would say yes, It looks like a malpositioned chick. The other one pipping at the bottom is too but they can sometimes hatch on their own so give that one time.

I'll wait on the pointy egg hatcher. Should I help that little bantam sooner vs later?

I’d start at the fat end of the shell where the air cells is and slowly peel the egg shell off.

I've done it... got the bathroom nice and steamy, from the shower, got some wet q tips, and took it slow, kept moist.. little duckling turned out healthy.

I’d also have a small cup of warm water ready to wet the membrane. He may be glued in.

Freed! Was definitely ready. Didn't find any blood vessels, yolk fully absorbed, let it break the cord naturally and all went well! Resting up in the incubator now. Hopefully the poor thing recuperates well after that ordeal. Has been struggling since last night
