Ah. If it's been pipped for 3 days, it's time to open the egg. It's probably dead, though.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you have had eggs explode in the incubator? I usually just leave the all the eggs in there, figuring that either they hatch or they don't.

I read somewhere that quail eggs dont explode, so it’s fine to leave them.

I’ve never been able to successfully candle my quail eggs, and none have ever exploded.

I candle when possible (the old candlers didn’t do so great with dark eggs) and remove blanks at day 10. Anything that has fluid leaking comes out of the incubator. There’s also the sniff test. A few times I’ve had eggs that started to smell. Those go out immediately.

Day 20 and i just woke up and one hatched overnight the original egg in this thread didn't make it , there was a tiny crack since last Tuesday which started to go green so i took it out and the chick had died
I was nearly given up on them all untill somone suggested the book by Jodie McDonald and I ended up tracking her down to buy it online and she told me that i had basically set it up for a later hatch by my settings so I just had to wait and this morning I woke up to this little ray of sunshine

My brooder is set up in my sitting room but temp is supposed to be at 99.9 is that right? but i cant get it to go that high , is it safe to lower the heatlamp down ?
