Does this rescue chick look ok? It seems bloated.

Wow, what a difference! I thought something was wrong with her... Are they good layers? Once they feather out I am giving them to someone who is building a backyard flock of layers. They might be talked into a good chicken dinner though,
 
They really don't make good layers, as they typically don't make it long enough to make eggs (if its a hen). They get so heavy their legs can give out and they usually have heart problems too. It's typically kinder to process them. You can help them to adulthood by rationing their feed or letting them free range exclusively. That chick will make a better dinner then layer :/
