Paula the article said that chickens lay more when molting, batteries give hens steroids to make them molt so they lay more, all eggs come out brown and the white ones are bleached and that organic eggs not only taste better, but come out with bumps and non-organic ones come out smooth.

I just clicked on the link in post #1 and there is a very much-edited version of the original article. I gave it just a quick read, it seems that all the false information is now gone. At the end of the article is a list of references including:

Various Abstracts Regarding Molting Inducement in Hens
United States Department of Agriculture
Fact Sheet from Maritime Certified Organic Growers

Also, if you click on the author's name you'll see a photo of her, she's a young woman but not a child or teen. I'm sure she meant well, but either had the wrong facts from which to work or misunderstood the research she read.

It's funny, just the other day I brought several cartons of eggs to my Bible study to give away to the ladies there. One of them looked in the carton & was surprised to see mostly brown & green eggs (I only have a few white egg layers). She asked why they were those colors, and before I could answer another lady said "it's because they bleach the eggs you get in the store". So I guess this is something believed by other folks too.
