Does your feed have grit included in the list of ingredients?

I'm wondering if the one that brought it up misunderstood that if only fed feed, they don't need grit.

I don't think that was the understanding - it was stated as fact. It was mentioned about not needing grit if you only feed feed.

Not needing grit if you only feed feed is indeed a fact, but I challenge the rest. Folks say all kinds of things on the internet and insist they are facts, so just to be safe I'd trust the ingredients list instead, or ask for a brand name or picture of the label etc. as proof. I'm very curious to see if anybody can produce any proof.

Sorry I may have been one of those people! I was just told that some feeds have a tiny bit of grit in it to help digestion but I guess that source was wrong! Maybe they just meant that they don’t need grit (for their chicks) because some feeds say on the bag that they have certain ingredients to support healthy digestion?

I did. Thats why I started this thread to see what others thought and to see if there were brands that listed grit as an ingredient.
I'm not new to poultry, but had never heard this idea until just the other day.

It's not about the ingredients. Processed poultry feed doesn't require grit for digestion because of what it is - processed. Ground up. It's already been pre-chewed for them. It dissolves readily and doesn't need any further grinding. Some feeds may add extra stuff like probiotics and claim that it helps digestion/health/whatever, but that's more of a feature bloat and a marketing trick than anything truly important. So yeah, commercial feeds don't require grit but not because they contain grit, or contain anything special - rather, because they're pre-ground-up already.

I know misunderstandings happen as well there is a lot of misinformation floating around out there. I just wanted to see if there are indeed feeds that contain grit and what the reasoning would be.
